Schedule of Events for Thursday April 24th

Choose the right combination of courses that best fit your educational needs. Attendees may choose from the following course types to fill their education agenda at PDA: General Sessions, Small Group Workshops and Hands-On Workshops.
Attendees are not required to pre-register for General Sessions and Keynote Sessions. Due to limited seating and materials in the workshops, pre-registration is required.
If you would like to attend a workshop that is full please proceed to the meeting room the course is being held and sign up on the wait list. Wait lists for classes that are full will be set out 30 minutes prior to the start of the course. Five minutes prior to the start of the course, no-show seats will be given to the first names on the list until all seats are filled.
Hands-on Workshops are limited to 50 attendees and Small Group Workshops limited to 75, unless otherwise stated.

Hands-On Workshop - Temporization Made Easy! Joseph A. Blaes, DDS
Participation in this hands-on course will give you the knowledge and confidence to fabricate functional and highly esthetic provisional restorations. Current materials will be reviewed, along with an exciting new, innovative single-unit temporization material that greatly simplifies the provisional procedure. Finishing, polishing, and cementing procedures will also be discussed. After completion of this fast-moving and educational program, you'll be prepared to quickly and easily fabricate fabulous temporaries!

General Session – Unravel the Mystery of Implant Insurance

Implant services are growing in popularity – gain knowledge of the terms and codes commonly used in this field. Attendees will learn how to code confidently for relevant procedures. More insurance plans are adding coverage for both surgical placement and restoration of implants. This course will provide claim narratives and filing tips that will help you obtain reimbursement for your patients. This program is ideal for both new and experienced assistants.

Small Group Workshop – Special Considerations for the Dental Professional in Managing Patients with Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease

The links between oral health and systemic health, particularly in people with diabetes and cardiovascular disease will be discussed. This presentation will summarize the evidence relating periodontal disease to diabetes mellitus, atherosclerotic heart disease and stroke, and special considerations will be addressed regarding the management of patients with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

General Session - Women's Wellness-Oral Health Perspective

National attention and an emphasis on women centered research has increased significantly in the past twelve years. Men and women are physiologically, anatomically and biologically unique. Research is rapidly developing. Gender specific health concerns are evolving, affecting diagnosis and treatment protocols.
Course participants are encouraged to interact with their colleagues while exploring health and oral health concerns that affect women solely, predominantly or differently. Emphasis will be placed on clinically relevant topics including: eating disorders, domestic violence, smoking cessation, perinatal interventions, menopause, heart disease and osteoporosis. 'pearls of wisdom' with your colleagues and gain a wealth of practical information.
